About LandGrab
What Is LandGrab?
LandGrab is a free search engine for vacant land parcels in Los Angeles County. The platform provides access to data on over 2.3 million parcels — including 100,000+ vacant lots — sourced from the LA County Assessor's open data portal.
Unlike listing platforms such as Zillow or LandWatch, LandGrab shows data on every parcel in the county, not just properties currently for sale. Each parcel page includes a comprehensive due diligence dashboard with elevation and slope data from USGS, flood zone status from FEMA, fire hazard severity from CAL FIRE, soil analysis from USDA, and solar exposure calculations.
Coverage is expanding to additional Southern California counties including Kern, San Bernardino, Riverside, and Ventura.
What Data Sources Does LandGrab Use?
All parcel data is sourced from publicly available records:
- LA County Assessor Open Data — Parcel characteristics, assessed values, and ownership information. Available at data.lacounty.gov
- LA County Treasurer & Tax Collector — Tax defaulted property lists, published annually as public records
Data is updated periodically but may not reflect the most recent changes. Always verify information directly with the relevant county office before making any decisions.
